A spokesman of the State Government said here today that in view of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, November 12, 2022 (Saturday) has been declared a public holiday in the state. Orders to this effect have been issued by the Chief Secretary.

He said that in the event of voting on November 12, 2022, there will be a public holiday for the employees working in government offices, boards, corporations, educational institutions and industrial complexes so that they can exercise their franchise. He said that it would be a paid holiday for daily wage workers which would be payable under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

Employees working in different places of the state will be given special casual leave on this day so that they can go to their assembly constituency to cast vote. For this they will have to produce the specified certificate related to voting from the Presiding Officer.
