Indian American YouTuber and singer Vidya Iyer (popularly known as Vox)enthralled a sold out house at the India Association on Indianapolis hosted Diwali Gala 2022 at Murat Egyptian Hall, Old National Center here.
The Chennai born singer, 32 years old Vidya kept the attendees dancing throughout her nearly two-hour dazzling songs and dance show. Vidya's music is rated as a mix of Western pop, electronic dance music, Bollywood top hits, and Indian classical music.
Vidya's videos have received over 906 million views, and her channel has amassed over seven million. She sings in many Indian languages, including Punjabi. On the demands of her fans Vidya sang a number of popular Bollywood songs.
The State Representative, who attended the function, wrote “It was an honor to be part of the India Association of Indianapolis celebration of Diwali last night. It was an evening filled with wonderful friends, food and music. Thanks to Raju Chinthala for including me in this beautiful event.''
Dr Ajay Ponugoti said “Food was good but The best thing about this IAI diwali concert is Vidya Vox- She connected with our youth, they idolize and worship her music. She represents them culturally _ best of Indian and American. Her music transcends all cultural barriers. I loved the fanfare she received as all these girls/ boys ( including us ) thronged the stage in fervor.”(SUBHEAD)
The programme commenced with lighting of the Lamp (Diya) by Donna Schaibley, Diego Morales, who is contesting for the State Secretary, IAI chairman Raju Chinthala and Dr Ajay Ponugoti. Also present on the dais were KP Singh, Ramu Chinthala, Ravi Sajja, Javed Khan, Smitha Thomas, Shanti Karthik and Ohio Senator Niraj Anthani and IAI Board members.
Anitha Sreekanth and Group performed a dance (Lord Ganesh prayer). After remarks by IAI president Smitha Thomas, chairman Raju Chinthala and KP Singh, Secretary Ravi Sajja introduced the sponsors and thanked them for their contributions.
After the dinner the much-awaited concert by Vidya commenced which was the pece de show of the Diwali Gala 2022.
