JAKHAR SLAMS BHAGWANT MANN GOVT FOR ABANDONING STATE AND LETTING MURDERERS RUN A PARALLEL GOVT, EXPRESSES CONCERN OVER VISIBLE LACK OF POLITICAL WILL IN AAP REGIME DRAGGING DOWN POLICE FORCE'S MORALE TO TAKE ON ANTI-STATE ELEMENTS

Terming the day light murder of sacrilege accused Pradeep Sharma in Kotkapura by assailants lassed with weapons despite security present with the deceased at time of incident as most unfortunate and alarming, former Member Parliament (MP) and senior BJP leader Sunil Jakhar on Thursday targetted the Bhagwant Mann government for abandoning the state altogether and letting murderers run a parallel government plunging law and order situation to a worrisome level.

Punjab is burning, while Nero is fiddling in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, Jakhar said adding that the Chief Minister, who also holds the charge as the state Home Minister, had been in denial mode depsite daily incidents of targetted murders happening with gangsters openly claiming responsibility for the same cocking a snook at the authorities.

Sweets are being distributed after murders, Jakhar pointed out emphasising that law and order exists on paper only in Punjab. The firing at NRI marriage in Amritsar on the very evening of murder of Shiv Sena leader speaks volumes about no fear of police at all in eyes of criminals, he added.(SUBHEAD)

That today's murder has just happened within days of fatal attack on Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri in Amritsar raises crucial questions over police's ability to ensure peace in our border state, the veteran Punjab leader said underlining that there is a tangible lack of political will in AAP regime to take on gangsters and murderers openly challenging the writ of the state.

Our brave Punjab Police force it seems is feeling helpless in face of the incompetence and indecision of the ruling class, Jakhar said cautioning against any laxity at the top against those trying to foment communal strife and discontent amongst communities.

Reminding the state government of massive sacrifices Punjabis have endured during the dark era of militancy, Jakhar pointed out that blood of more than 25,000 Punjabis of all faiths was spilt to ward off inimical designs of those who wanted to destroy and divide our state.

Punjab Police back then too had been able to weed out militants only when it was unshackled of any political pressure and was given a free hand to take on enemies of state, Jakhar pointed out expressing concern over recent spate of happenings in the state.

Referring to the sacrilege issue, Jakhar said if AAP fails to ensure justice and not brings the culprits of this most heinous crime to book, it will face the public ire and would eventually meet the same date as SAD and Congress. The Bargarhi Morcha is still sitting on dharna even after 8 months of AAP assuming power in Punjab, Jakhar reminded the government and urged CM to understand the responsibility and duty to serve Punjab and not let Punjab slide back into dark days.
