UT ADMINISTRATOR APPROVED “ELECTRIC VEHICLE POLICY, 2022”

The Hon’ble Administrator, UT Chandigarh had approved the “Electric Vehicle Policy, 2022” in order to make Chandigarh a ‘Model EV City’ by achieving one of the highest penetration of zero emission vehicles (ZEV) amongst all Indian cities by the end of the Policy period of five years. The policy had come into force on 20th Sep,2022.

The Chandigarh Electric Vehicle Policy will help in creating Public Charging Infrastructure within every sector and in the first two years of the policy period, 100 nos. of Public Charging Stations will be installed in UT Chandigarh.

In order to encourage people to move towards e vehicle from the conventional vehicle in order to have lesser carbon foot print and make Chandigarh carbon neutral at the earliest, work order for Establishment/Setting-Up of 44 nos. of EV Charging Stations equipped to charge 332 Electric vehicles at a time & 26 nos. of Battery Swapping Station for Electric vehicles with swappable battery option at various Locations in Chandigarh has been allocated to two (2) firms. Sh. Debendra Dalai, CEO CREST further informed that the Electric vehicles purchased by local citizens can also be charged at their houses through domestic electricity connections.

The rates discovered through this tender have been found lowest in India that will be charged from the users who charge their vehicles from the above charging/ battery swapping stations:  

1. Slow/Moderate Charging – Rs. 8/- per Unit.
2. Fast Charging Rates- Rs. 10/- per Unit.
3. Battery Swapping rates: Rs. 11/- per Unit.
