(MOREPIC1) Face2News/Chandigarh,

The PNB Phantoms won the 1st Edition of Tricity Bankers League (TBL), defeating the State Bank of India (SBI) team by 5 runs, in the final match held at the Tricity Sports Academy, Peer Muchalla. PNB scored 156/8 (20), limiting SBI to 151/8 (20).

Himanshu Wadhwa from PNB (4 overs, 29 runs, and 4 wickets) was declared Player of The Match, while Sonam Dawa from SBI (56 Runs in 33 Balls) was declared Best Batsman, Sonu from SBI ( 4 overs, 24 runs, and 3 wickets) – Best Bowler, and Karan Dua was the Game Changer for scoring 49 runs and defending 11 runs in the last over. TBL was hosted by SportSaga and powered by the Escon Primera.

As expected, it was a complete see-saw match and both the teams did not give up on any occasion to lift the title. After electing to bat first PNB players were off to a dream start but SBI bowlers took charge and started commanding the match. However, Karan Dua came with a different intention and started smashing from the first ball due to which PNB managed to score 150+ runs.

Considering a batting line-up of SBI, it looked like an easy target, but they were off to a shaky start and PNB managed to control the match until 13 overs, then came the power hitter Sonam, who smashed the ball all around the corner and took his team from no-where to a match-winning situation. Only 11 runs were required in the last over, but an excellent spell by Karan Dua from PNB helped PNB to lift their pioneer title.

Ms. Devika Palshikar (Ex-Women Indian Team Coach) and Gaurav Kohli, Director of SportSaga were present to felicitate the champions. Mr. Kohli said that he loved the spirit and character displayed by the bankers and that we will continue to plan this format on a bigger scale after every edition.

The other awards were: SBI – Runner up, Mandeep Singh from SBI – Player of The Tournament and Best Batsman, Sam Chhetri from SBI – Best Bowler of the Tournament, Chani from IndusInd Bank – Best WK Batsman of the Tournament, Kapil Dev from SBI – Best Fielder of the Tournament, Deepak from SBI Life Insurance – Emerging Player of the Tournament, and IndusInd Bank – Fair Play Team Award.
