Knee replacement operations have been resumed under the Ayushman Bharat Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana in the government hospital here. Orthopedician Dr. Sanman Mazi has also heaved a sigh of relief as needy patients have been waiting for a long time due to non-availability of the facility, he was facing humiliation due to not being able to perform the operations.

Dr. Mazi said that many needy persons could not afford the cost of knee replacement operation that was above Rs 75,000. Due to confusion over allocation of funds under the Ayushman Yojana, such operations were not done for a long time, due to which the patients who were in trouble, had to wait for relief. Now approval has been given to do such operations under the Ayushman Yojana and operations have been started. Eight operations have been done in two weeks and according to the infrastructure only three operations can be done in a week.

The Civil Hospital has had no anaesthesia specialists for the past few months. The district authorities had sent a report to the state headquarters but no specialist was provided. SMO Dr. Sonu Pal has arranged the services of private specialists locally, payment will be made by the department.
Rajpura village resident Sheshkaran said that he had a lot of pain before his knees were operated on. Now operation under Ayushman Yojana has been done, medicines were also made available. The knees of Reshma Rani of Kamalwala village have also been replaced. She has been suffering a lot due to arthritis.

Satnam Das of Diwankhera village is also among other beneficiaries. He was very upset due to the severe knee problem and was waiting for the operation. His family had contacted a private hospital but could not arrange Rs one lakh for the operation.
