DISTRIBUTES REFLECTOR TAPES IN PANCHKULA

Panchkula Traffic Police in collaboration with The Road Safety Organization (RSO), launched an awareness drive to mark the Road Safety Week, under which reflector tapes were installed on small vehicles like cycles and rickshaws today and people were made aware about it.
The campaign was carried out with the help of ACP (Traffic) Ms Mamta Sodha. Congratulating the organization she said, “Every year thousands of people become victims of road accidents in India. Due to disobedience of road safety rules, many people die on the roads. To prevent road accidents, it is necessary to strictly follow the traffic rules.”(SUBHEAD)
Ankur Kapoor, President, Road Safety Organisation, said that they run this campaign every year, under which common people are made aware about road safety precautions. During the drive, people are told about the importance of reflector tapes, helmets, no drunk and drive, and follow traffic rules. The organization will continue the drive with emphasis on seat belts, helmets, drunk and drive checking, cycling rally, and a bike rally among few other things.
Apart from Chairman of the organization Deep Krishna Chauhan, Secretary Navdeep Bedi, Joint Secretary Mukesh Chauhan, Jagpal Singh (SHO Panchkula City) and Brijendra Singh (SHO Surajpur), Akshay Tikko, Rahul Talwar, Rohit Talwar and Tarunpal Singh were also present. The programme was sponsored by Indus Hospital.
Organized by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the aim of this week is to make people aware about road safety. During the National Road Safety Week, the general public was told that careless driving can lead to many damages. The National Road Safety Week was celebrated for the first time in the year 1989. After this, in the year 2010, the Central Government approved the National Road Safety Policy, after which awareness about traffic rules was started among the people.
