WORKSHOP ON SIKH MARTIAL ART 'GATKA' IN LUDHIANA ON JANUARY 28

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana in collaboration with the oldest registered Gatka organization in the country, National Gatka Association of India, will conduct one day workshop on Sikh martial art 'Gatka' on January 28 at 11 am in the college auditorium.

Disclosing this here today head of the department of physical education of the college and coordinator of this workshop Dr. Mandeep Kaur and co-coordinator Dr. Narinder Kaur said this workshop would be organised by the physical education department and heritage club under the leadership of principal Dr. Mukti Gill.

She further informed that member of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and President of Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib Ludhiana Pritpal Singh would be the chief guest o the occasion. Apart from this, president of Amrit Indo Canadian Academy Ladian Kalan, Ludhiana Harminder Singh Chahal, president of National Gatka Association Harjeet Singh Grewal, State Awardee, National Coordinator of Association Simranjit Singh, Director of Training and Coaching Directorate of the Association Sukhdeep Singh would also grace the occasion and shed light on various aspects of Gatka game.

She further added that the aim of this workshop is to enable the youth, especially girls, proficient in self-defence, to make them aware about the traditional sport and to inspire them to adopt Gatka art as a sport.
