National Lok Adalat was held on Saturday at Fazilka, Abohar and Jalalabad under the guidance of District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson District Legal Services Authority Jatinder Kaur as per the direction of Punjab and Haryana High Court and Punjab State Legal Services Authority. Many cases were settled with the mutual consent of both the parties.
District and Sessions Judge Jatinder Kaur said that in the National Lok Adalat, 11 benches were set up in district Fazilka. Out of which 6 benches were set up in Fazilka, 3 in Abohar and 2 in Jalalabad. As many as 1685 cases were disposed of and awards of Rs.26,88,90,621/- were passed.
(SUBHEAD)Secretary District Legal Services Authority Amandeep Singh said that in the Lok Adalat, common people get relief, their time and money are also saved. Mutual enmity between the two parties ends and brotherhood grows. After the verdict in the Lok Adalat, all court fees incurred in the case are refunded. Its judgment enjoys the status of a civil court. There can be no appeal against its decisions.
