PM SELECTED CHANDIGARH AMONG 1 OF THE 14 TOWNS FOR ROLL OUT OF 5G IN PHASE 1.

The Ministry of Communications, Government of India has notified the “Indian Telegraph Right of Way (Amendment) Rules, 2022”.  Prime Minister has selected Chandigarh among 1 of the 14 towns for roll out of 5G in phase 1.

Chandigarh constituted the working committee under chairmanship of Secretary Information Technology, for adoption of the rules as per guidelines from Government of India. After deliberations with all stakeholders, some other recommendations were done.

The policy is framed to provide better and encouraging telecom service operators to apply online for permission of installation of towers/small cell on Government/Corporation buildings enhance improving revenue.(SUBHEAD)

The Administration has adopted all procedure for rollout of 5G as per Government of India notification and also keeping in mind the local concerns. The application process has been made simple for a hassle free experience to the operators. Enabling the online process, the applicants can now enrol in a transparent manner. The new amendments authorise multiple agencies empaneled with Chandigarh other than PEC for submitting the structural design certificate.
