Terming them as eyes and ears of the administration, the Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal on Thursday asked Border Village Defence Committees to play more proactive role in aiding government efforts to eradicate drug menace.
In a border district like ours, their role is even more crucial in the eventual success of state policies for welfare, development and safety of our villages and residents, she said after chairing a meeting with the VDC of Mohan Jamshed earlier in the day. SSP Avneet Kaur Sidhu was also present.
It is my top priority to ensure strengthening of these Committees to evolve and nurture a strong mechanism for information flow to state agencies for timely action and redressal, the DC added.
(SUBHEAD)Dr Senu Duggal, who has been regularly visiting villages of the district to get first-hand information about their issues and concerns, also assured them of fulsome support and assistance from her administration.
“I seek proactive information from you as they are the first line of credible information for action against drug trafficking, the DC said adding that ongoing efforts against the menace can only fully succeed with their support. The Committee members assured of support and cooperation.
