CHANDIGARH ADMIN ORGANISED PHOOLON KI HOLI TO CELEBERATE DIVERSE ROLES WOMEN PLAY

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023, the Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration has organized a Phoolon ki Holi in order to celebrate the diverse roles women play.

(MOREPIC1)(MOREPIC2)(MOREPIC3)The aim to commemorate International Women's Day is to celebrate cultural, political and socioeconomic women-made achievements in various fields. Women's Day also marks a call for a gender-equal world that is free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination and is diverse, equitable, and inclusive while differences are valued and celebrated. Many activities were carried out to celebrate International Women’s Day and Holi.

The event carried out at Nari Niketan Premises, Sector 26, Chandigarh saluted the spirit of all women who are constantly making this world a better place. The aim of the International Women's Day 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about 'Why equal opportunities aren't enough'.”

Smt. Palika Arora PCS, Director Social Welfare Women & Child Development Chandigarh Administration graced the occasion as Chief Guest along with other officers of the department. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest by inaugurating the open gym for the residents of Nari Niketan and planting a tree to celebrate International Women's Day. She shared that women are socially as well as economically an important part of the society and they must be given importance to realize their real potential.(SUBHEAD)

During the event, cultural activities were performed by the residents of Nari Niketan and Anganwadi Workers. Winners of Mehandi & Rangoli Competition were felicitated which were earlier held among the residents to commemorate International Women's Day. Gifts and suits were distributed among the residents of Nari Niketan and After Care Home. A Rangoli was decorated at the entrance of the premises on the theme of International Women's Day.

On the occasion of International Women Day, many programmes were organized at Anganwadi level along with celebrating Phoolon ki Holi. During these activities, women & children have been sensitized on women issues, importance of millets in our daily diet and ecological Holi. Anganwadi Workers demonstrated millet recipes among the beneficiaries i.e. Ragi ka chilla, bajre ki khichdi, jawar ki tikki etc. for promotion of millets.

It shall be the commitment of every individual to voice slogans of Women Empowerment and equal rights for a sustainable and peaceful world not only on International Women's Day but by doing their bit every day to promote and celebrate Gender Equality.
