Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal held a meeting with the heads of private schools at Fazilka and instructed them to strictly follow the Right to Education Act. She said that students cannot be forced to buy uniforms or books from a particular shop.
The DC said that all private schools will upload the list of books to be taught during the 2023-24 academic session on the school's notice board and website so that parents can purchase them from any shop of their choice. Books, note books should not be sold in schools. The students and their parents should not be forced to buy books or stationery from any special shop.
Similarly, the color and design details of the school uniform should also be posted on the school's notice board and website so that parents can purchase them from the shop of their choice. The color or design of uniforms cannot be changed before two years.
Uniforms are not to be sold by any school.
The private schools were told that fees to be charged during the year 2023-24 should be determined as per the law of 2016 and the details should be made public on the school notice board and website. It is prohibited to take a screening test and capitation fee at the time of admission of students.
