ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION OF GOVT COLLEGE OF ART ORGANISED, 1000 WORKS BY 330 YOUNG AND BUDDING ARTISTS DISPLAYED

The Annual Art Exhibition of the Government College of art is an important event in the art scenario of the city beautiful. Approximately 1000 works by around 330 young and budding artists have been displayed in this prestigious event.

Secretary Technical Education Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Chandigarh, inaugurated the 56th Annual Art exhibition of College of Art. The exhibition is spread over to all the studios and the exhibition hall of the college. Joint Secretary Sh. Amandeep Bhatti, PCS, was also present on the occasion.

The exhibition has taken shape under the guidance of Mrs. Dr. Alka Jain, HOD cum Principal of Government College of Art and Mr. Pramod Arya, Associate Professor, who is Chief Coordinator of the Annual Art exhibition 2023.(SUBHEAD)

The exhibition which is an annual event of the college provides a platform to the budding artists to showcase their talent and it also reflects the creative might of the students and the faculty members of the college.

The students of the BFA and the MFA courses from all the four disciplines i.e. Applied art, Painting, Graphics (Print making) and Sculpture contribute their works for the annual show. Such exhibitions provide opportunity to students to hone their skills to exhibit a work of art. The content and form of the exhibition truly mirrors the concern of the artists, highlighting various issues. Crime against women and the impact of the globalization are few amongst various other issues which have captured the artist’s imagination.

Around 20 students of the special diploma i.e. students with special ability have displayed their creativity in a very different manner and different mediums. Their works are reflection of their deeper understanding of the world around them.

The Chief Guest Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, admired the creations of the budding artists and lauded the efforts of the students and faculty members in showcasing the myriad hues of the creative power that this premier institute make them learn.

She was optimistic about the future of the upcoming artists who will also be the ambassadors of the golden cultural heritage of this great nation. Sh. Amandeep Bhatti also lauded the creativity and efforts of the students and encouraged the students. Dr. Alka Jain, HOD cum Principal of the college expressed her happiness and explained the proud legacy of college. She talked about how this exhibition plays a vital role in the students growing career and learning. She stressed on the various aspects that can be worked out for the betterment of the institution. Sh. Pramod Arya, Chief Co ordinator of the exhibition thanked the chief guest and expressed his sincere gratitude to the Administration for encouraging the budding artists.

This Annual Art Exhibition has been receiving a very warm response from the visitors as the art lovers and connoisseurs of the city thronged to view the art works in large numbers. In light of such encouraging appreciation, it has been decided to extend the exhibition for two more days i.e. till 12th of April.The exhibition will remain on view from 7th April 2023 to 12th April 2023, between 10:00 am to 06:00 pm.
