PU SYNDICATE MEETING: NOD FOR MoU WITH PGIMER, FORTIES AND JAPAN UNIVERSITY

THE SYNDICATE APPROVED THE APPOINTMENT OF LT. GEN. K.J. SINGH, AS HONORARY PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENCE & NATIONAL SECURITY STUDIES,THE SYNDICATE APPROVED THE ENQUIRY REPORT DATED 22.02.2023 SUBMITTED BY SHRI JAGROOP SINGH MAHAL, ENQUIRY OFFICE AGAINST SHRI NIRAJ KUMAR, SENIOR ASSISTANT, BOYS HOSTEL NO.5, PANJAB UNIVERSITY, CHANDIGARH. THE REPORT OPINED THAT NIRAJ KUMAR VIOLATED RULE1.1 OF THE RULES GOVERNING CONDUCT OF UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES & IS GUILTY OF SERIOUS MISCONDUCT. HE WILL BE IMPOSED MAJOR PENALTY AND WILL BE DEMOTED

Panjab University Syndicate in its meeting held today deliberated on all the agenda items and few of them are as follows:

The Syndicate approved the Minutes of various Screening-cum-Evaluation/Selection committees. The Syndicate also approved the minutes of the Admission Facilitation Committee dated 28.03.2023 with regard to various admission related cases. The Syndicate approved the assignment of faculties to Professor Rumina Sethi, Dean of University Instruction.

The Syndicate approved the execution of following Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs):-

• MoU between Centre for Medical Physics, Panjab University, Chandigarh and PGIMER, Chandigarh
• MoU between Centre for Nuclear Medicine, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Fortis Hospital, Mohali.
• MoU between Panjab University, Chandigarh and Yokohama National University (Japan).

The Syndicate approved the Appointment of Lt. Gen. K.J. Singh, as Honorary Professor in the Department of Defence & National Security Studies.(SUBHEAD)

The Syndicate approved that the Inspection Committee constituted by the University to visit Bhai Nagahia Singh Memorial Girls College, Alamgir, Ludhiana for grant of extension in affiliation, be withdrawn and the Syndicate also allowed the Trust to discontinue the College stage wise for the session 2022-23 and other conditions as per Regulations 13.2 to 13.5 at page 161 of P.U. Calendar, Volume-I, 2007.

The Syndicate approved the enquiry report dated 22.02.2023 submitted by Shri Jagroop Singh Mahal, Enquiry Office against Shri Niraj Kumar, Senior Assistant, Boys Hostel No.5, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The report opined that Niraj Kumar violated Rule1.1 of the Rules governing conduct of University employees & is guilty of serious misconduct. He will be imposed major penalty and will be demoted.

The Syndicate approved the minutes of the meeting to look into the matter regarding theft of 32 lacs from Panjab University Constituent College, Nihal Singh Wala, Moga and decided that a third party audit will be conducted and the responsibility will be fixed.

The Syndicate approved the minutes of the Affiliation Committee dated 04.02.2023 with regard to grant of temporary extension of affiliation in the course/s/subject/s to the Colleges situated in the Punjab State, for the session 2022-2023.

The Syndicate approved the recommendations of the Committee dated 04.08.2022 to finalize the process of advertisement of posts of Assistant Professors at P.U. Constituent Colleges.

The Syndicate approved the Regulation committee’s recommendation regarding the framework for admission to B.A., B.Sc, B.Com (Honors) school under NEP 2020.
