VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTS JALANDHAR COUPLE FOR COLLUDING IN CAUSING LOSS TO STATE EXCHEQUER DURING SALE OF LAND

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption has arrested Barinder Kumar, resident of village Tura, Jalandhar district and his wife Deepak Bala, for colluding with other accused who had sold land in village Karura, Rupnagar district to the state government at a price much higher than the prevalent collector rate causing a huge loss to the state exchequer.

(MOREPIC1)(MOREPIC2)Disclosing this here today, the spokesperson of Vigilance Bureau (VB) said in this regard in case number 69 dated 28-06-2022 had already been registered against several private persons and government officials at police station Nurpurbedi under section 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of IPC and under section 7, 7A, 8, 13 of Prevention of Corruption Act which was being probed by the Bureau.

Giving further details, he said about 54 acres of land under investigation was of hills, drain, gorge, dune etc. at village Karura, in Sri Anandpur Sahib sub division and it was in the name of the habitants of village Karura. The Punjab State Forest Corporation, SAS Nagar had proposed to buy this land for tree plantations, he added.(SUBHEAD)

The spokesman further informed that during investigation it was found that two private individuals Daljit Singh Bhindar and Amarinder Singh Bhindar, both brothers, had colluded with the state revenue officials and sold the village land to the said Forest Corporation at much higher rate than the actual price thereby collected Rs 5,35,00,000 crore.

During the probe, it has come to light that the above mentioned Bhindar brothers had transferred this ill gotten money amounting to Rs 2,00,000 in the account of Barinder Kumar, resident of village Tura, Jalandhar district and Rs 1,95,00,000 in the account of his wife, Deepak Bala.

This couple have been arrested and further investigation in this case was under progress.
