ALTERNATIVE ANALYSIS REPORT & DPR IS REQUIRED FOR METRO APPROVAL FROM CENTRE

A meeting to discuss way forward for preparation of Comprehensive Mobility Plan for Chandigarh Tri-City Complex was held yesterday under the Chairmanship of Dr. Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh with M/s RITES Ltd. RITES team presented the policies, guidelines & procedure for planning of MRT system in lines with the Metro Rail Policy issued by MoHUA, Govt. of India.

After discussions, it was felt that Alternative Analysis Report (AAR) & DPR is required to be prepared as per the guidelines of the Government of India, which after approval of UMTA/State Government will be submitted to Government of India for their approval.

Therefore, it was decided that the meeting of Unified Metro Transportation Authority (UMTA) may be convened at the earliest for engagement of agency for preparation of AAR & DPR.

The meeting was attended by Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav, Secretary Transport, Finance Secretary & SSP (Traffic).
