Taking into consideration the heavy rain fall and water logging, the Distt. Magisterate on Sunday issued order and advisories to the general public, private institutions and government/semi-government offices located in Chandigarh for safety of public.
*General public is advised not to venture into water bodies like lakes, choes, ponds, etc. during monsoon season till 01.10.2023 to avoid any untoward incident linked to drowning etc.
*Civic authorities like Municipal Corporation and Engineering Department UT Chandigarh are advised to immediately remove the fallen trees from roads, streets and public pathways.
(SUBHEAD)*Municipal Corporation and Engineering Department UT Chandigarh are advised to repair the caved in roads immediately and Chandigarh Traffic Police is advised to cordon-off such areas to avoid any accident to pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
*Municipal Corporation to ensure that all manhole covers and road gulies are properly put in place to avoid any accident to pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
*Chandigarh Traffic Police to ensure that water logged underpasses and subways are properly cordoned-off and traffic is diverted on alternate routes. General public is advised not to go into water logged underpasses and subways without checking the water level.
*All public and private institutions/offices are advised to inspect their building premises to detect likely points of electrocution due to the dampness in office buildings and water logging in their premises.
*Municipal Corporation and Engineering Department UT Chandigarh are advised to check the electric poles and street lights to avoid any incident of electrocution to pedestrians.
*Health Department is advised to make necessary arrangements for medical treatment of the persons affected with electrocution and drowning cases.
*All the public and private institutions/offices located in Chandigarh are advised to take decision regarding closing of their offices considering the rain fall forecast and water logging situation.
