NIRMOHI'S DEADLY SPELL WRAPS UP ROCK ZONE, SKIPPER AZAD'S HALF TON STEERS LEISURE ZONE TO A WIN

Pace battery Shrestha Nirmohi’s five-wicket haul helped Sukhna Zone to register a 22-run (VJD method) victory over Rock Zone on the third day of the UTCA T20 Domestic Cricket League being played at the Cricket Stadium, Sector 16 on Sunday.

(MOREPIC1)(MOREPIC2)Batting first, Rock Zone team soon succumbed against pace attack led by Shrestha Nirmohi (5/16) and were reduced to 122 runs in the 19th over. Neil Dhaliwal (29) was the top scorer for the side while Sanchit Sahu (28) and captain Harnoor Singh (22) also contributed significantly. Amit Shukla and Chiraz Singh shared two wickets each. In reply, Sukhna Zone openers- Captain Arslan Khan and Nehal Pajni got off to a flying partnership with 58 runs till 8th overs.

Khan was dismissed after scoring 22 runs followed by Panjni’s 46.

Thereafter, unbeaten batters – Vikas (17) and Pardeep (26) steered the inning to 115/2 in 17th over before the rain interpreted the match. . With a revised target under VJD method, Sukhna Zone was declared victorious by 22 runs. Shrestha Nirmohi was awarded man of the match for his excellent bowling. 

In the second rain-curtailed match of the day, Leisure Zone registered a thrilling eight-run win over Rose Zone. Batting first, Leisure Zone scored 104/1 in the stipulated ten overs with the splendid contribution from skipper Arjun Azad (53 runs off 30 balls). Unbeaten Gaurav Puri added 35 runs. In reply, a blistering knock of Rahul Sharma (44 runs off 22 balls) went in vain as the team only could manage 96/4 and lost the match by eight runs. 

Arjun Azad was awarded the man of the match.
