AUGUST 20, 2023 PROCLAIMED AS INDIA DAY IN INDIANAPOLIS

Indianapolis Mayor on Sunday issued a proclamation August 20, 2023 as India Day in the City of Indianapolis and asked all citizens to join him in this observation. This important proclamation was read out on the occasion of India Independence Day celebrations annually hosted by India Association of Indianapolis and Indianapolis Sister Cities International.

It seeks to preserve and promote and celebrate the multicultural aspect of India while increasing the understanding of India, Indian people, Indian culture amongst Americans. by carrying out educational and charitable activities India Association of Indianapolis cultural exchange between the people of India and the United States. “

Chief guest Secretary of States Dieogo Morales said “what an honor to have been able to celebrate Indian culture today with the India Association of Indianapolis. The Hoosier State is made up of people from all backgrounds and cultures and that's one reason Indiana is the best.”

IAI chairman Raju Chinthala described India Day “a fantastic success. The performances were captivating. The event truly showcased the city culture and diversity of India. The day was filled with vibrant celebrations that left everyone in high spirits.”

The program commenced with a colourful parade, people carrying tricolor Indian flags. Indy Garjana Dhol Tasha Pathak, making its maiden appearance, stole the show. All present at the Monument Circle participated in the National anthems of USA and India.

Cultural performances by enthusiastic children and adults kept the spectators spell-bound with their outstanding performances.

All IAI Board members — Raju Chinthala, Smitha Thomas, Ravi Sajja, Ramu Chinthala, Jasnmine Singh, Suresh Raman, Siva Valilala, Chandra Krishnnamaneni, Veenkata Tadikonda and Prachi Chatterje. did a good job in making India Independence Day a grand success.

Also present on the occasion were Asian American Alliance president Rupal Thanawala, Lieutenant Javed Khan, Danish- American Punjabi singer Anita Lerche, Shanti Karthik, Anindita Sen, Kushal Kant Singh, Pratibha Ravindra, Magdalen Selvraj Bergeron, Manzil Kohli and Congress candidate Siddharth Mahant.
