SKIPPER PARAS POWERED UT BOYS TO REGISTER 66-RUN WIN OVER CHHATTISGARH

The all-round performance led by skipper Paras helped UT boys to register a 66-run win over Chattisgarh in the first match of the Under 19 five-match series which started at DAV School, Sector 8 on Tuesday.

Chandigarh while batting first was magnificently supported by a fine knock of Paras ( 80 off 92 balls) and was powered by three sixes and seven boundaries. Openers – Devang Kaushik (47) and Jashn (26) also laid a strong foundation for the team while Ishan Gaba (54) scored a half century to pose 261/8 runs in the stipulated fifty overs. Varun Singh (2/30) and Vikalp Tiwari (2/37) shared two wickets each from opposition.

In reply, visitors struggled from the beginning with a shaky start as half of the team went to the pavilion with 70 on the board. Team failed to recover and were restricted to 195/8 runs. Paras (2/13) and Nishank Birla (2/28) took two wickets each. The second match of the series will be played on September 7.
