98TH RAISING DAY OF MILITARY NURSING SERVICE CELEBRATED AT CHANDIMANDIR MILITARY STATION

The Military Nursing Service celebrated 98th Raising Day on Oct.1,  2023 at Chandimandir Military Station.

(SUBHEAD)Tracing the Saga, Military Nursing Service has been the part and parcel of the country's war efforts since its inception on 01 Oct 1926. Military Nursing Service Officers have played a pivotal role in caring for the sick and wounded during peace and as part of all operations during the First World War, the Indian Army Nurses served in Flanders, the Mediterranean, the Balkans, Middle East and onboard Hospital Ships. More than 200 Nurses have died in active service over the years. They also have been the part of Medical Teams in UN Missions and other humanitarian endeavours.

Efforts and services of Military Nursing Service have been recognised many a times and persons have been conferred with 03 PVSM, 17 AVSM, 03 SM, 50 VSM and 03 Mention in Dispatches and many civil awards including 16 National Florence Nightingale Award.

Brig Sunita Sharma, Brig MNS, HQ Western Comd alongwith veterans of the Military Nursing Service Corps laid wreath at Veer Smriti War Memorial, Chandimandir to commemorate the occasion.

Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command in his Special Order of the Day complimented all MNS Officers for their unflinching service, commitment and exceptional professionalism.
