The British Deputy High Commission Chandigarh in collaboration with the Chandigarh Administration, hosted a workshop focused on the vital topic of Low Emission Zones (LEZ) within our city. LEZs, designated areas where access for polluting vehicles is restricted, are a key strategy aimed at enhancing air quality.

This event received invaluable support from the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) Skill Share program, a two-month initiative. Under the guidance of CENEX, a leading UK-based expert institution, this program will facilitate collaboration between city-level officials and CENEX experts to comprehensively assess the unique needs and current status of our city. The ultimate goal is to co-create a practical self-help toolkit tailored to LEZ implementation within Indian cities.

Through this knowledge exchange, our city officials will be empowered to introduce critical guidelines and policy changes, fostering the successful implementation of Low Emission Zones. This concerted effort aligns with India's ambitious Net Zero goal and will substantially reduce pollution stemming from tailpipe emissions.
