About 150 women boarded a train at Abohar that will take them to Vrindavan and Mathura in UP. The Jakhar Trust will bear the total expenses of the tour.
A trustee Vijay Kataria said that during this four-day tour, the women will also visit an incredible gaushala in Vrindavan. Farming families’ women, who had adopted animal husbandry as an allied business, will be able to learn much there. All will be taken to other religious places of Mathura. “Whatever expenses will be incurred for the travel, accommodation and food will be borne by the Trust’, he said.
Some of the women said this was their first long-distance travel occasion.
Earlier, the Trust, under its Women Empowerment programme, had organized Teej Festivals, Marathon race, Pink Cycle race and rural sports competitions besides hosting seminars to seek their help in the fight against drugs. MLA Sandeep Jakhar was the key speaker at these events.
