Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, CM Ashok Gehlot, PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasara, former deputy CM Sachin Pilot and thousands of teary eyes paid their last respects to Gurmeet Singh Kooner, three-time MLA from Srikaranpur, who had died yesterday.
Senior leaders expressed deep grief to the family members including MLA's son Rupinder Singh Kooner and Jaiveer Kooner and said that having a clean image, he served the state as a public leader with a positive attitude by holding other important positions including Minister of State. His immense contribution to the party will always be remembered.
The mortal remains of Gurmeet Singh Kooner were brought to his farm, where the family members including Rupinder Singh Ruby Kooner and Jaiveer Koonerlit the funeral pyre. Thousands of people gathered around the helipad built near GG College from morning till evening until Rahul Gandhi, Ashok Gehlotand other leaders reached.
While conducting the stage, Shyam Verma said that Kooner chose politics as a medium of public service and by taking his personality to the pinnacle level in the politics of the state through his creativity, he earned the title of an honest saint of politics.
