The Congress workers  on Monday held a press conference at Congress Bhavan in Ferozepur Cantonment and demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The demand comes in the wake of Shah's alleged derogatory remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, during a parliamentary session.

Addressing the media, spokesperson Ruby Gill, district president Kulbir Singh Zira, former MLAs Parminder Singh Pinki and Ravinder Singh Awla, Ashu Bangar and other senior Congress leaders strongly condemned Shah's comments. They called the remarks highly objectionable and demanded an apology from Shah to the people of India.

The leaders stated that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi fails to take action against Shah, the Congress party will launch nationwide protests. They also reiterated their commitment to defending the dignity of India’s Constitution and its makers.

Prominent attendees included Harinder Singh Khosa, Kamalpreet Singh Gill, Deshraj Ahuja, Gurjeet Singh Mudki, and numerous Congress workers, panchayat members, and block committee representatives. The event witnessed robust participation, with Congress leaders vowing to intensify their efforts if their demands remain unmet.

The Congress party emphasized that such statements undermine the principles of equality and justice enshrined in the Constitution and cannot be tolerated.
