ADDITIONAL DIRECTOR GENERAL OF POLICE SH O.P. SINGH THREW LIGHT ON THE CHALLENGES RELATED TO IDENTIFYING FAKE CURRENCY AND CYBER SECURITY, EMPHASISED THE NEED FOR COORDINATED EFFORTS TO IDENTIFY FAKE CURRENCY AND END ITS CIRCULATION

In a joint initiative by Haryana Police and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), a state-level training programme was conducted at Haryana-112 auditorium focusing on 'Identification of Fake Currency and Overall Control on its Circulation’. Additional Director General of Police, Cyber, Sh. O.P. Singh, participated as the chief guest, shedding light on the challenges of identifying fake currency and cyber security issues.
The programme was chaired by the Regional Director, R.B.I, Sh.Vivek Srivastava. Police department officials along with state Investigating officers participated in this training programme.
Sh. O.P. Singh stated that the possibility of human error in identifying fake notes is relatively high, so they must be identified using software-based machines. During this, he emphasised the importance of artificial intelligence. During the programme, he shared critical information about the techniques and cutting-edge equipment used to detect counterfeit notes in various countries. He stated that in order to identify fake notes and control their circulation, everyone must work together in this regard.
Sh. Singh also addressed cybercrime challenges, stating that preventing cyber fraud, especially the rising trend of online scams involving monetary transactions, remains a significant concern. He stressed the importance of collaborative plans between banks and the police to mitigate cyber threats and safeguard customers' hard-earned money, he added.
Regional Director, RBI, Sh. Vivek Srivastava during the programme, stressed the significance of a strong action plan to reduce the circulation of fake currency and the imperative need for public awareness. He highlighted the ongoing efforts by RBI to prevent fake currency from entering the market, urging bank employees to adhere strictly to RBI guidelines and not return fake notes but report them promptly.
In this training program, Subject expert Mr. Munish Khanna also expressed his views. He stated that fake currency harms both our country's economy and society. This has an impact on trade, commerce, and overall economic activity.
Furthermore, the Haryana Police, under the direction of Director General of Police, Sh. Shatrujeet Kapur, proposed such regular training sessions for investigating officers in collaboration with RBI. Sh. Srivastava expressed willingness to provide specialised experts from RBI following the acceptance of this proposal.
General Manager, RBI, Sh. Pankaj Setia, Subject Expert Sh. Manish Khanna from RBI and other dignitaries remained present in the programme.
