UT ADMINISTRATION ENFORCED THE IMPLEMENTATION OF VLTD IN PUBLIC SERVICE VEHICLES WITHIN CHANDIGARH.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH) has mandated the installation of Vehicle Location Tracking Devices (VLTD) with Panic Buttons in Public Service Vehicles under Rule 125(H) of CMVR, 1989. In alignment with this, the Chandigarh Administration has enforced the implementation of VLTD in Public Service Vehicles within Chandigarh.

The Command & Control Centre for the Vehicle Location Tracking and Emergency Alert System Project, situated in the Office of the State Transport Authority Chandigarh has been made operational. The inauguration of this Command & Control Centre (C&CC) took place today by Shri Banwarilal Purohit, the Hon'ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh in the presence of Nitin Kumar Yadav, Home Secretary-cum-Adviser to the Administrator U.T. Chandigarh, Sh. Rupesh Kumar, Secretary STA and other officials of Chandigarh Administration.

(SUBHEAD)The Administratir emphasized the importance of installing emergency buttons and tracking systems in public service vehicles to enhance safety, particularly for women and children. He commended the State Transport Department, NIC, and the entire team for achieving this milestone, predicting increased vigilance among drivers and improved security for passengers.

The utility of the Vehicle Location Tracking & Emergency Alert System in providing aid, especially to women and children traveling in public service vehicles is extremely essential. The Administrator expressed confidence that this system would contribute significantly to making Chandigarh a safer and more secure city.

The Command & Control Centre facilitates live tracking of all public service vehicles, enhancing the safety of passengers, particularly women and children. The public is strongly advised to choose/hire only those public service vehicles equipped with Vehicle Location Tracking Devices and Panic Buttons.
