In major breakthrough a gang was busted in FIR No. 119, dated 09.12.2023, U/S 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 120 B IPC, PS- Cyber Crime, Chd four (04) accused arrested under the leadership of Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP-Cyber, UT, Chandigarh, under close guidance of Sh. A Venkatesh, DSP/Cyber Crime& IT UT, Chandigarh and supervision of Inspector Sh. Ranjit Singh SHO Police Station-Cyber Crime, Sec.17, Chandigarh. The details are given below.
It is submitted that the present case has been registered on the complaint of Jagpal Singh R/o H No 1345 A, Sector 39 B, Chandigarh. He reported that on 06.12.2023, near about 5.30 PM, he visited at Canara Bank ATM, Sector 39B, Chandigarh for withdrawal money. When he inserted his card in ATM machine, it got stucked in ATM Machine.
On this he approached on customer service no. 7762958165, which was pasted in ATM booth. From other end on mobile asked him to enter his ATM PIN number and press cancel button and again said for enter PIN no. and press enter button. But all in vain, on this again called person said to complainant wait for some time. After some time complainant came back at ATM. He saw that ATM machine opened and his card was missing. On the same day at around 6.00 PM, total 71000/- rupees deducted from his saving SBI bank account. The called Customer service number 7762958165 switched off.
After registration of the above case the raiding party has been constituted and with the help of technical assistance, raids were conducted at different places in Chandigarh and Punjab.
On 06.12.2023 another complaint has been registered by complainant Manohar Kumar Singh further with same Modus Operandi and 65000/- amount was frauded at Khuda lohra Chandigarh ATM by same accused.
MODUS OPERANDI: The modus operandi of this case is that they (Accused) searched those ATM booths, where security guard is not deputed. After this one person (Accused) pasted a fake pamphlet inside ATM booth. On this fake pamphlet a mobile number was mentioned as “Customer Service 7762958165”. One of them kept the above said mobile along with him and stayed away from the ATM booth. Another one comes in ATM booth as a mechanic and opened the ATM Machine with the help of Knife, Screw Driver, Needle Nose Pliers.
(SUBHEAD)After opened the machine he closed the machine with the help of fewikwik. When customer comes in ATM and uses his ATM card, the said ATM card stucked in ATM Machine with the help of Fexikwik. Customer called on given mobile number i.e. “Customer Service 7762958165” (Which pasted by above said (accused) persons).
On this from other side customer instructed to enter PIN number, at the mean time one of them (accused) comes back of customer and see the PIN from backside, which is entered by Customer on the machine. But card not comes out from ATM machine and customer again called at given number, on this from other side person asked that he is working on another ATM machine, after some time he will come and open the machine and hand over your ATM card to you. Then customer returns back and the above said person ( accused) comes on the spot and open ATM machine and receive ATM card from there. They used this ATM card and withdrawal the amount from another ATM Machine and POS machine. Thus they cheated the innocent people.
During further investigation with the sincere efforts of team all accused has been arrested from area of Mehta District Gurdaspur , Punjab and police remand is obtained. It was came into light that previously criminal case has been registered against Dharmender Kumar and Vimlesh Kumar in Uttar Pradesh. Further, the investigation of the said case is going on.

AND Rohit Kumar S/o Anuj Singh R/o Village Pakri, Tehsil & PS Fatehpur, District Gaya, Bihar, Age 27 Yrs education profile – 8th passed
RECOVERY: 2 mobile Phones, 1 Knife, 1 screw driver, 1 Needle Nose Plier M C, 4 Sim Cards of Different Service Providers, 10 ATM Cards of Different Banks
During investigation accused disclosed that the following incidents occurred by them as below mentioned at different area with same Modus Operandi.
Chandigarh 2, Noida 3, Ghaziabad 3, Gurugram 3, Delhi 4, Rajpura Punjab 1, Kapurthala 2, Jalandhar 1.
