PU DEPTT. OF MICROBIOLOGY INTERACTION SESSION HELD DURING GLOBAL ALUMNI MEET

The Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized an engaging interaction session with its alumni in light of the 4th Global Alumni Meet hosted by the university on 23rd December 2023.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Khemraj Thakur, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology. This was followed with an address by the Chairman,Prof. Deepak K. Rahi, who briefed the audience about the achievements of the department over the time, and set the tone by acquainting the alumni with the proceedings. Prof. Naresh Sachdeva, an esteemed alumnus of the department and the Incharge of the Endocrinology laboratory at PGIMER, Chandigarh, graced the occasion as the guest of honor.

Prof. Sachdeva shared profound insights from his journey, highlighting the pivotal role of the University in shaping his success story.Diverse alumni from various departments attended the meet, reminiscing about their university experiences and offering valuable perspectives. Each one of them emphasized on the fact that the discipline instilled, and the foundational teachings of the department empowered them to navigate life's challenges effectively.

They proudly acknowledged the department's commendable achievements over time and emphasized the versatility of a microbiology degree, asserting its relevance across various spheres.In a heartfelt gesture, Dr. Vijay Kumar presented the department with the revered Bhagavat Geeta, contributed books to augment the departmental library, and pledged a scholarship for first-year students from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The program ended with Prof. Prince Sharma, a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and the coordinator of the alumni meet, encouraging sustained alumni engagement and fostering avenues for their contributions to the alma mater.
