In a major breakthrough, Crime Branch Chandigarh Police got a major success while acting against notorious and wanted criminal in tri-city. A team of Crime Branch on the direction of Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP/Crime and close guidance of DSP Crime Sh. Udaypal Singh and under the supervision of Inspector Ashok Kumar nabbed gang member of Lawrence Bishnoi namely Gagandeep Singh and recoveredonerevolver from his possession.
Police said, on 17.1.2023, SI Neeraj Kumar along with police party was on patrolling duty near Booth Market, Sector 36, Chandigarh, where some boys handed over one person to the police party as he pointed out the gun at them.
On interrogation he disclosed his name as Gagandeep Singh @Gagan S/o Sh. Ragubir Singh # 1133/2, Dashmesh Nagar, Nayagaon, Mohali (PB) andonhispersonal search one revolver was recovered from his possession. He could not produce any license/permit for carrying the weapon. Subsequently a FIRNo. 13dated 17.01.2024 u/s 25/27/54/59 Arms Act, 506 IPC PS-36, Chandigarh was registered against him and arrested in this case.(SUBHEAD)
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Gagandeep Singh @ Gagan S/o Sh. Ragubir Singh # 1133/2, Dashmeshnagar, Nayagaon, Mohali (PB) Aged 28 years. The accused is a notorious criminal and is active gang member of Lawrence Bishnoi. There are more than 21 cases of Murder, Attempt to Murder, Dacoity, theft, Extortion, Arms Act and NDPS Act registered against himin Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
He was also arrested for carrying mobile phone in the jail. Presently he is on bail and he has recently come out of jail and again involved in the illegal activities. The investigation of the case is in progress. The accused was produced in the honourable court where he was remanded to police custody for 4 days for further interrogation.
