Face2News/Chandigarh:

The inauguration of the 12-day long SARAS Mela which was scheduled to begin from Thursday had to be postponed due to inclement weather at the venue. The fair was slated to be inaugurated by Anirudh Singh, Minister of Rural Development and Panchyati Raj, Govt of HP at the exhibition ground, Sector 34.

The Minister arrived in the city but heavy rain followed by a hailstorm in the morning spoiled the venue and organizers had to postpone the inauguration.

She expressed hope that the weather will be clear in the coming days and the fair will live up to the expectations of locals .

The event is aimed to encourage the talents of more than three and a half lakh rural women organized under the aegis of about 44000 self-help groups. During the fair, the handmade products by these women entrepreneurs are on display and sale. Entry to the fair is free.
