FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR HOSTEL BLOCK TO ENHANCE MEDICAL INFRASTRUCTURE IN U.T. CHANDIGARH

In a significant step towards bolstering medical facilities, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh Sh. Banwarilal Purohit Chandigarh Administration marked a milestone today with the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Hostel Block for MBBS Students at GMCH campus, Sector-48, U.T. Chandigarh.

The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of , Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chandigarh,Sh. Rajeev Verma, Adviser to the Administrator, Dr. Vijay N. Zade, Secretary Engineering, Sh. Ajay Chagti, Secretary health and other officers of Chandigarh Administration.

This momentous occasion underscores the Administration's unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare infrastructure. The six-storied Hostel Block, spanning a covered area of 2,40,750 square feet, is poised to address the pressing need for accommodation for MBBS students. With separate blocks for boys and girls, the hostel will accommodate 287 students of each gender, providing a conducive living environment for their academic pursuits.

The hostel, scheduled for completion within two years at a cost of Rs. 50.00 Crore, will feature modern amenities including car parking for 149 vehicles, lifts, a fully-equipped kitchen, dining hall, ramps, and staircases to ensure seamless movement for students.

This strategic endeavor aligns with the Administration's vision to bridge infrastructure gaps and elevate the standard of medical education and services in U.T. Chandigarh. With the addition of this hostel block, the Administration aims to alleviate the shortage of accommodation facilities for MBBS students, thereby fostering a conducive learning environment.
