Kin of two Victoria Cross (WW II) and five Maha Vir Chakra recipients were honoured, apart from 17 Vir Chakra awardees. A large number of war heroes, Veer Naris and Next of Kin (NOK) awardees participated in this Convention.
Ripudaman Singh Grand son of Subedar Ram Sarup Singh 2nd Bn/1st Punjab Regt WW II Victoria Cross and Smt Amarjit Kaur Daughter of Naib Subedar Nand Singh, 1 SIKH Mahavir Chakra (P) 1948 J&K operations, Victoria Cross WW II, were among the Awardees of this region.
Lt Gen Manoj Katiyar, GOC in C, Western Command graced the inaugural session of the Triennial National Convention of the War Decorated. The Army Commander also expressed gratitude towards the elderly awardees & veer naris and ensured all help & support to the War Decorated India.
