CHANDIGARH PRESS CLUB ELECTION: NALIN ACHARYA BECOMES PRESIDENT, RAMESH HANDA SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT

In the annual election of Chandigarh Press Club on Sunday, this time Nalin Acharya-Jagatar Bhullar panel won 5 out of 9 posts and Barinder Rawat-Ramesh Handa panel won 4 posts.

Out of a total of valid 714 voters, 588 exercised their franchise. Nalin Acharya got 307 votes while Barinder Singh Rawat got 274 votes and 7 votes were cancelled. Nalin Acharya won by a margin of 33 votes. On the post of senior vice president, Ramesh Handa won by a margin of 38 votes by securing 309 votes while Jaisingh Chhibbar got 271 votes while 8 votes were cancelled.

(SUBHEAD)Amandeep Kaur won the Vice President (Women) with 291 votes. She defeated Arshdeep Arshi by a margin of 9 votes while 15 votes were rejected. Arshi had to be satisfied with 282 votes.

Similarly, Dipendra Thakur secured 287 votes and defeated Karnail Singh Rana by a margin of 2 votes. Rana got 285 votes and 16 votes were cancelled. Jagtar Singh Bhullar, who contested for the post of Secretary General , had to face defeat from Umesh Sharma by 18 votes. Sharma got 298 while Bhullar got 280 votes and 10 votes were invalid.

Ajay Jalandhari, who is holding the post of secretary, won with 57 votes, securing 317 votes while Sushil Raj got 260 votes. 11 votes were declared void. Similarly, Amarpreet Singh got 291 votes and Tarun Bhajani got 281 votes on the seat of Joint Secretary-1, so the margin of victory was 10 votes and 16 votes were cancelled. Similarly, on the seat of Joint Secretary-2, Ankush Mahajan won by 36 votes by securing 305 votes and Naveen Tyagi secured 269 votes and 14 votes were cancelled. Dushyant Pundir won the post of Treasurer with 294 votes. He won by a margin of 11 votes. Against him, Mukesh Athwal got 283 votes and 11 votes were invalid.
