Despite all stringent measures mobile phones continue to make way inside the high-profile central jail in Ferozepur. Within two days, twelve mobile phones have been recovered from the jail and overall more than 140 mobiles have been recovered during the last three months.
In the latest recovery, the police has booked five jail inmates and recovered six mobile phones besides intoxicating material. Divulging details, Rishavpal Goel Assistant Jail Superintendent said that following the inputs, a special search operation had been carried out in the jail barracks during which six mobiles, two packets of tobacco, one pen drive, one head phone besides intoxicating capsules and tablets were recovered from the accused jail inmates identified as Prisoners Ravinder Pal Singh, Ramesh Kumar alias Cheelu, Balwinder Singh alias Khundri and undertrials Ravi and Rakesh alias Kaku.
A day before, six mobile phones were recovered following which two undertrials Sandeep Singh and Arshdeep Singh had been booked. On March 29, five mobile phones along with 243 packets of tobacco, two packets of cigarettes, two chargers and data cables were recovered in 13 throw incidents.
All the accused had been booked under Prisons Act at city police station.
As per information, prisoner Ravinder Pal Singh had been booked in a case registered under UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act ) at NIA Delhi.
A day before, six mobile phones were recovered following which two undertrials Sandeep Singh and Arshdeep Singh had been booked. On March 29, five mobile phones along with 243 packets of tobacco, two packets of cigarettes, two chargers and data cables were recovered in 13 throw incidents.
It is pertinent to mention here that this year already more than 140 mobile phones have been recovered from the jail within three months only. Last year, 683 mobile phones had been recovered from the jail.
Besides mobiles, more than 1500 packets of tobbacco, 1945 intoxicating capsules, 44 packets of ciggarate, 56 packets of "Beeri" have also been recovered from the jail this year.
