CHIEF ELECTORAL OFFICER REVIEWED FUNCTIONING FUNCTIONING OF PERMISSION CELL

The Chief Electoral Officer, Dr. Vijay Namdeo Zade, visited and reviewed the functioning of the Permission Cell, which has been set up at Ground Floor, Estate Office Building, Sector 17, Chandigarh for facilitating grant of permissions of various events.

It is a Single Window Clearance System with Nodal Officers from all concerned authorities including Municipal Corporation, Fire, Police, Estate. The various permissions include those for holding Meetings (with and without loudspeakers), Processions, Rally, Vehicle permit, Video Van, opening of Temporary Party Office, display of Posters / Hoardings, Pamphlets distribution, door to door canvassing as well as Helicopter Permission to the contesting candidates/parties during General Lok Sabha Elections-2024 within Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency.

The Contesting Candidates/Applicants can apply online on Suvidha portal i.e. https://suvidha.eci.gov.in/ or can submit their Application (48 hours prior to event) offline at the Permission Cell, between 8am to 8pm.

The Chief Electoral Officer also visited the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) set up in the Department of Public Relations, Deluxe Building, Sector-9 Chandigarh which has been set up as per the directions of the Election Commission of India. He took stock of the whole monitoring set up and directed the teams to closely monitor the television news channels, print media, social media platforms and websites in light of the Lok Sabha Elections, 2024.

The Media Monitoring Cell diligently monitors all newspapers, news channels, social media platforms, and websites to ensure adherence to the instructions and regulations set forth by the Election Commission of India.
