EXCISE DEPTT. ENFORCEMENT TEAMS RECOVERED THOUSANDS WHISKY AND BEER BOTTLES WITHOUT VALID PERMITS

In a concerted effort to combat the illegal sale of Imported Foreign Liquor, Indian Made Foreign Liquor, and Country Liquor (IFL, IMFL, and CL) during the Model Code of Conduct, and to prevent evasion of Excise Levies & Taxes, the Excise and Taxation Department, U.T. Chandigarh, as per the directions of Sh Rupesh Kumar IAS, Excise and Taxation Commissioner UT Chandigarh, conducted a series of random inspections on licensing units.

During these inspections, the enforcement teams seized 12,120 bottles of IFL/IMFL and 5,292 bottles of beer without valid permits, with an estimated value of approximately Rs. 30 lakh. Cases for breach of Excise Law have been initiated against the defaulting licensees.

This operation reflects our ongoing commitment to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and safeguarding the interests of citizens.

“As Excise and Taxation Commissioner, I want to emphasize that we will not tolerate any illegal liquor trade or malpractice. Our enforcement efforts will be strict, and those found violating the law will face severe consequences. Let’s work together to maintain a fair and lawful environment.” said Rupesh Kumar, IAS.
