ORDER UNDER SECTION 144 Cr.P.C. COME IN FORCE

Whereas, the Lok Sabha Election 2024 is scheduled to be held on 01.06.2024 in Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency. According to the provision made under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, in the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the close of poll, the campaign will come to an end.

Further, there is a ban on unlawful assemblies and holding of public meetings in connection with election during the 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the close of poll. Provided that this does not restrict house-to-house visit during 48 hours in connection with the door-to door campaigning.

Now therefore, Vinay Pratap Singh, LA.S., District Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh, in exercise of the power vested u/s 144 of Cr.P.C., do hereby order as a measure of emergency that the unlawful assemblies and public meetings in connection with election campaigning are prohibited in Chandigarh and not more than 05 persons may assemble or move together in the area in this respect.

This order shall come into force from 06:00 pm on 30.05.2024 and shall be effective upto and including 02.06.2024 upto 06:00 pm.
