HAFED TARGETS EAST AFRICAN COUNTRIES FOR EXPORTS

Encouraged with the successful execution of export orders of Basmati rice of 132 million USD to Saudi Arabia and UAE. HAFED has now initiated efforts to explore export possibilities in Rwanda and Tanzania.

A high-level delegation comprising of Chairman, Hafed, Sh. Kailash Bhagat, MD, Hafed, Dr. J Ganesan, Advisor, Foreign Cooperation Department Haryana, Sh. Pawan Choudhary and Chief General Manager, HAFED, Sh. Rajnish Sharma visited Rwanda and held a meeting with the Director General of Armed Forces Shops and his team of senior officers at Kigali on 12 July 2024 for business tie-ups and export of various agri commodities.

After detailed discussions, it was agreed upon in principle to finalise a long-term contract with HAFED for a regular supply of rice to Armed Forces Shops, Rwanda and to also explore the possibility of Refined sunflower oil, Cold pressed mustard oil and millet-based products.

MD, Hafed, Dr J Ganesan IAS, assured for regular and consistent supplies of good quality products to Armed Forces shops. The delegation also held talks with officers of the High Commission of India at Rwanda to explore business opportunities in Rwanda.

HAFED has also set up its stall in the 48th Dar Es Salaam International Trade Fair(DIFT )at Dar ES Salaam, Tanzania to showcase its products, which was inaugurated by DG, TanTrade, Tanzania, Ms. Latifa Mohammed Khamis and Chairman, HAFED, Sh. Kailash Bhagat on July 11 in the presence of Managing Director Hafed, Dr J. Ganesan, IAS, Advisor, Haryana Foreign Cooperation Department, Sh. Pawan Choudhary, Charge d’Affairs of India at Tanzania,Sh. Manoj B Verma. India – Haryana Day was also celebrated on the same day at DITF, Tanzania in the presence of the Indian and Tanzanian Diaspora.

Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director, HAFED Dr J. Ganesan, IAS, welcomed all the dignitaries and business leaders of Tanzania and Haryana. He emphasised on strengthening the collaboration between Tanzania and Haryana especially in the Agri sector in which HAFED can play a leading role.Chairman HAFED, Sh. Kailash Bhagat also shared that HAFED is ready to export any agri-commodity including edible oils etc., to Tanzania and participation of HAFED in the 48th Dar ES Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), Tanzania, is a testimony for the same.
