Slamming the congress, senior BJP leader and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday said the Congress could not win even 100 seats in the third consecutive Lok Sabha elections, facing its third worst defeat in this election.
Sitharaman was speaking during Chandigarh State Executive meeting of the city BJP where she was the chief guest. She later also held a meeting with traders to understand their issues and listen to thier demands.
The minister further said the Congress could not win even a single seat in 14 states. Total 13 INDI alliance party could win only 232 seats while the BJP by its own won 242 seats
(SUBHEAD)“But they are celebrating as if they have won the elections. In the last 10 Lok Sabha elections thst is from 1984 to 2024 the congress could not cross even 250 seat mark. But, they have this artificial confidence,” she said.
Sitharaman felt the opposition did not contest this election in a fair manner. They created fake narratives, its impact was so on the ground that even if how much you try to convince people about it, its already late.
She said statements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were twisted by the opposition in several issues and they tried to create a fake narrative. She suggested the BJP need to answer it back with facts and figures.
She said on every issue the congress or its sympathizers went to the Supreme Court, but the verdict came in favour of the BJP-led government. Rahul Gandhi abused the RSS, he had to apologize in the court. The congress said there was corruption in Rafale deal, they had to again apologize in thr court. But, they are shameless.
To remember what happened during the emergency, Samwidhan Hatya Diwas has been notified. Every opposition leader was sent to the jail. It was in 1975 that socialism and secularism words were added in the Constitution.
She said contrary to Congress' times of bomb blasts in India, the country is heading in positive direction. Whether it is solar energy or artificial intelligence, good growth is there. “We have reponsive government that is doing good in other sectors also,” she added.
Earlier, BJP President Jatinder Pal Malhotra listed achievements of the PM Narendra Modi-led government. He said not only in India, the country is doing great globally also. Senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon added the party is going to achieve more heights in the third term.
