St. John's High School organized an inspiring 1 hour Marathon and 1 hour Sapling Planting event, bringing together children, parents, and teachers in a collective effort to promote environmental conservation and community well-being.

The event kicked off at 6:30 AM with 175 participants gathering in the assembly area. Instructions regarding the route and rules were provided ensuring a smooth and safe run for everyone involved. At 7:00 AM, the Principal Br. Augustine Jairaj and Headmistress Mrs. Rajshree Vipin proudly flagged off the marathon, signaling the start of an exhilarating hour-long run.

(SUBHEAD)Participants, fueled by a shared commitment to fitness and the environment, ran with enthusiasm, making their way through the designated route. The marathon concluded at 8:00 AM, at which point the participants transitioned to the next phase of the event – the sapling plantation.

At 8:10 AM, the plantation of 65 fruit tree saplings commenced within the school campus. These saplings, generously donated by the Sambhav Foundation, Chandigarh, symbolise the school’s dedication to creating a greener, more sustainable future. This local effort was part of a larger community initiative aimed at planting 1 lakh trees across Chandigarh in one hour.

By 9:00 AM, the plantation was successfully completed. Participants then gathered back in the assembly area, where class-wise winners of the marathon were announced. Collectively students, teachers, parents and ex-students ran 1800 kns. The event concluded with refreshments being served, celebrating the collective effort and achievements of all involved.

This Marathon and Sapling Planting event not only fostered a sense of unity and purpose among the students, parents, and teachers but also underscored the importance of environmental stewardship. St. John’s High School is proud to have contributed to the community’s goal of planting 1 lakh trees and looks forward to continuing its efforts in promoting a healthier, greener future.
