CBI CAUGHT RED HANDED AN OFFICIAL OF CHANDIGARH ESTATE OFFICE WHILE DEMANDING AND ACCEPTING BRIBE OF Rs 20 K

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  on Monday apprehended accused Raj Kamal , Dealing Assistant, Estate Office, Chandigarh while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000/- from the complainant for offering favour to the complainant.

CBI registered a case on a complaint against accused Raj Kamal, Dealing Assistant, Estate Office, Sector 17, Chandigarh on allegations that complainant had received a notice from Housing Board regarding dues of Rs.5,50,000/- towards his booth (Kiosk) in Rehri Market, Sector 46, Chandigarh.

(SUBHEAD)It was further alleged that the complainant visited Estate Office, Chandigarh and met accused who informed the complainant that an amount of Rs.12,57,957/- was due to be paid. Accused allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.1,50,000/- in lieu of reducing the amount of Rs. 4-5 lakh. After negotiation accused agreed to accept Rs.20,000/- as a bribe.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.20,000/- from the complainant.

Searches are being conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused.Investigation is continuing.
