INDIA'S DAY CELEBERATED IN INDIANAPOLIS, 2000 ATTENDS

India Association of Indianapolis celebrated annual India Day with great exuberance and fervor in front of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial on the Monument Circle. Downtown, here on Sunday. India became a sovereign country on August 15, 1947

IAI is a non-profit organization which brings together people of Asian-Indian origin who live in Central Indiana. The association's effort is to preserve, promote and celebrate the multi-cultural aspect of India. IAI strives to increase the understanding of India, Indian people and rich Indian culture among the American people.

More than 2,000 attendees turned up for the function. They carried the Tricolor and the American flag. All attendees took part in the parade.

Mayor Joe Hogsett in his message declared August 18, 2024 as India Day.

Cultural performances by kids and adults kept the spectators spell-bound. Bhangra by kids was outstanding.
