PRISONER RETURNED FROM PAROLE HELD WITH 37 SIMS AND INTOXICATING MATERIAL

The police has booked a prisoner following recovery of intoxicating material and SIMs from him during the checking when he returned from his parole.

As per information, the accused identified as Hardev Singh, resident of Mankian Wali Basti in Zira had gone to parole and had came back after completing his parole on Saturday.

During the checking, the jail officials recovered 114 gram intoxicating white powder, 45 intoxicating tablets, one mobile phone and 37 SIM cards. Out of these 37 SIM cards, 16 SIM cards were of Airtel, 16 were of VI and 5 SIM were of Jio company, from his turban.

In another incident, another prisoner had been booked following recovery of 88 intoxicating tablets in the jail. Sukhjinder Singh Assistant Jail Superintendent said that during the routine checking, 88 intoxicating tablets were recovered from the accused following which he was booked under Prisons act at city police station 

The accused has been booked under sections 42/52-A Prisons Act at city police station (FIR No. 353).

SP (D) Randhir Kumar said that the accused will be produced in the court for the police remand to ascertain that why the accused brought so many SIM cards and to whom he was planning to provide.

In another incident, another prisoner had been booked following recovery of 88 intoxicating tablets in the jail. Sukhjinder Singh Assistant Jail Superintendent said that during the routine checking, 88 intoxicating tablets were recovered from the accused following which he was booked under Prisons act at city police station (FIR No. 354).

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier also several such incidents have been reported when the gangsters lodged in jail had been found using the mobile phones within the jail premises. Last year in June, a video clip showcasing jail inmates celebrating a birthday inside the premises had gone viral after one of the jail inmates Aman Kumar had shared it on his Instagram account operating from the jail. Following which the accused Aman Kumar and others were booked. Last year in May also, two undertrials had shared photos and videos from within the jail, which went viral. An ensuing search led to the discovery of a mobile phone, resulting in further charges.
