As a part of the nationwide “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is organizing a series of cleanliness activities from 17th  Septemberto 2ndOctober, 2024. These initiatives include cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns, and a Cycle Rally scheduled for 2ndOctober, 2024 in Chandigarh and at various project stations of BBMB with an aim to raise public awareness about the importance of cleanliness.

In alignment with the Government of India's “Swachhata Lakshit Ekayi” campaign, BBMB held a large-scale cleanliness drive today at the Motor Market in Sector 48, Chandigarh. This initiative was a collaborative effort involving BBMB, the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh and the Aashray Foundation, all working together to promote environmental sustainability and public hygiene.

The event was led by Sh. Manoj Tripathi, Chairman of BBMB, who set a commendable example by personally participating in the cleaning efforts. Senior BBMB officers also joined in, further encouraging staff and volunteers to actively engage in the cause. A pledge was taken by all BBMB offices, committing to maintain cleanliness and fostering a sense of civic responsibility among employees and the public.

As part of an effort to beautify public spaces, vibrant wall graffities were created at the Compost Plant in Daddumajra, Chandigarh and at BBMB, Sundernagar. These murals serve to rejuvenate old walls while promoting the message of cleanliness through art.

In addition, a special plantation drive titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was organized at various project stations, highlighting the nurturing role of both mothers and trees in sustaining life.

Looking ahead, BBMB remains steadfast in its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability. Through initiatives such as afforestation, waste management and eco-friendly practices, BBMB aims to make a lasting impact in preserving and protecting the environment.
