Hundreds of Congress workers sat on dharna in front of District Administrative complex (DAC) against the alleged malpractices of the officials on the behest of AAP leaders during the nomination process for the upcoming Panchayat elections. The dharna was led by DCC President and former Zira MLA Kulbir Singh and other senior Congress leaders including MP Sher Singh Ghubaya, Ex MLA Parminder Singh Pinki, Ashu Bangar besides others.

Addressing the congregation, Kulbir said that AAP government is “mis-using its power and preventing the candidates to fill the nomination forms. “The Sarpanches of the villages are being elected from the MLA’s residences only. This is the murder of democracy and we will not tolerate this”, said Kulbir.

The protest continued for more than six hours.

Later, Kulbir along with MP Sher Singh Ghubaya and Pinki, met the Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma following which the dharna was lifted.
