Former Zira MLA and DCC President Kulbir Singh was injured following a clash between AAP and Congress workers over certain issues related to nomination process for Panchayat Elections in Zira on Tuesday.
The incident took place today afternoon when Kulbir was going with alongwith the Congress workers at the nomination centre setup at Jiwan Mall Government Middle School in Zira. As per information, when the Congress workers reached near the nomination centre, a clash erupted between the AAP and Congress workers during which the supporters of both the parties pelted stones on each other. In the melee, a stone hit Kulbir on his face due to which he sustained an injury.
SSP Saumya Mishra, who also reached Zira said that the police tried to control the situation in the best possible way. "The entire incident has been recorded on camera. Who pelted stone on whom first , is a matter of investigation and the police was verifying all the aspects. The FIR will be lodged after the preliminary investigations", said SSP Mishra
The police force which had been deployed there, fired several rounds in the air and even used water canton to control the situation. Expressing their resentment over the incident, the enraged Congress workers raised slogans against the AAP government.
“When I came out from the house with my supporters to reach the nomination centre, the police tried to stop us at several places" Later the AAP people attacked the Congress workers who had been accompanying with me”, said Kulbir, adding that the police administration was also supporting AAP workers only.
Naresh Kataria, AAP MLA from Zira said that actually it was the Congress workers who were carrying sticks, baseball bats and who attacked the AAP workers and pelted stones.
