Demanding arrest of former Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra, who had been allegedly involved in 2021 Lakhimpur Khiri violence that claimed eight lives, including four farmers, hundreds of farmers belonging to various farmers unions under the banner of Sanyukt Kissan Morcha (non-political) blocked the railway tracks in Mallanwala, Makhu, Guruharsahai, Talwandi Bhai and Ferozepur Cantt railway stations for two hours.

Due to the protest, 17 trains in this railway division were affected. No train had been cancelled nor any train was diverted. The trains were only halted at such stations where the passengers could get food and other facilities easily.

Gurmail Singh Block President Kissan Majdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC) said that the farmers have been peacefully fighting for their rights during the last few years but their demands have not been fulfilled by the union government till date. “We will not tolerate such oppressive policies of the central government and till the time our demands are not met, our protest will continue”, said Gurmail Singh.
