GULAB CHAND KATARIA VISITS GRIID, COMMENDS EFFORTS IN SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The Governor of Punjab and Administrator U.T. Chandigarh Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, visited the Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID) in Sector-31, Chandigarh, today. During his visit, he expressed deep appreciation for the tireless efforts of the staff in providing high-quality education and support to students with special needs.

The Governor toured various sections of the institute, including the Sanitary Pad Making Unit, Masala Grinding Unit, Cutting and Tailoring Unit, Autism Section, Care Group, Preparatory Section, Sensory Garden, Early Intervention Clinic, and Occupational Therapy Room. He engaged with students, teachers, and staff, gaining valuable insights into the innovative programs and services offered by the school.

(SUBHEAD)In his remarks, the Governor praised the institute's commitment to inclusivity and excellence, emphasizing the importance of fostering a supportive community for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. He acknowledged the dedication of educators and staff in providing specialized support to students, noting that GRIID serves as a shining example of compassion and dedication with a remarkable mission.

Reflecting on his experience, the Governor shared, “Whenever I visited any special school, my heart filled with discomfort, but today’s visit has changed my mind and soul with happiness and pride. I am impressed by the comprehensive services being provided at GRIID under one roof for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”

Accompanying the Governor during his visit were Sh. Ajay Chagti, Secretary Health, Dr. A.K. Attri, Director Principal GMCH-32, Chandigarh,Dr. Ajeet Sidana, Joint Director of GRIID and other faculty members.
